Dawn M. Ayres, 82, of Millersville, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born and raised in Millersville, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Ruth (Ritter) Patterson. She was the loving wife of the late Ivan E. Ayres who passed away in 2023.
Dawn proudly served as a police officer with Millersville Boro for several years before continuing her career at Millersville University as a Police Officer. She later retired from Millersville University after serving in their dispatch department. Throughout her career, Dawn was dedicated to helping others. Outside of her work, Dawn cherished time spent on vacation, especially trips to the beach. She also loved camping and spending time outdoors. Dawn had a creative spirit and enjoyed crafting. Above all, Dawn was known for her generous heart. She especially loved helping others and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
She is survived by her sons, Steven (Brenda) and Kevin Ayres; her grandchildren, Rachel Renee, Tyler, Zachary, Corey, and Michaela; and a great-grandson, Atlas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivan; and brothers, Wilbur “Chip” Patterson, Jr., and David Patterson.
Services are being held privately at the convenience of the family.
