Cynthia L. "Cindy" Destafano

Cynthia L. “Cindy” Destafano, 71, of Conestoga, passed away surrounded by the love of her family August 19, 2026. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Richard T. Geiger and Nancy (Davis) Geiger.

Cindy was the beloved wife of David F. Destafano, with whom she shared 37 years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and service to others.

She is survived by her children, Matthew Destafano of Conestoga, and Kate Destafano and her wife, Amy Faux, of Lancaster, and step-daughter Jennifer Destafano of Lancaster. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Nora; her brother, Thomas Geiger and his wife, Patti, of Boiling Springs; and her sister, Melissa Dalbey and her husband, Paul, of Mechanicsburg. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pam Roof, in 2025.

Cindy devoted her professional life to education and healthcare. An educator by profession, she graduated from Hempfield High School in 1973 and later earned her bachelor’s degree from Elizabethtown College in 1980. She served as Director of The School of Radiography for more than 25 years and later worked as an allied health medical instructor at a local school of business. Following retirement, she continued sharing her knowledge while working in the simulation lab at Saint Joseph’s University. She also co-authored three allied medical health textbooks.

Outside of her career, Cindy enjoyed photography, sports, and spending time with those she loved most. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was an active member of her church community. She will be remembered for her intelligence, dedication, warmth, and the lasting impact she made on her students, colleagues, friends, and family.

A memorial service will be held at the Willow Street United Church of Christ, 2723 Willow Street Pike North, Willow Street, PA, officiated by Rev. Zachary C. Wooten, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 12 PM. The family will receive guests from 11:30 AM – 12 PM. A separate private interment will take place at Conestoga Methodist Cemetery, Conestoga, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, The American Cancer Society or Hospice and Community Care.
