It is with the heaviest of hearts that our family announces the passing of Christopher D. Tremellen. On June 23, 2026, Chris unexpectedly passed away peacefully at the age of 64. He was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on the 24th of March in 1962. Christopher was a loving father, grandfather, son and friend.
He was a talented artist who loved to share his knowledge of the arts with others. Chris attended the Pennsylvania School of Art and Design, as well as, the York Academy of Art. Upon graduation, he discovered a love for graphic design and dedicated himself to the marketing industry. His greatest accomplishment in the digital world was the creation of Adventure Guide Magazine. In his earlier years, Chris dedicated his time to Tremellen Gallery and Framing, which was a fixture in downtown Lancaster. The gallery was known for contemporary art exhibits and the Central Market Artwalk. Chris paved the way for what is now known as First Friday in Lancaster City. He was a true visionary when it came to the arts and helped "put Lancaster on the map" as some would say!
Chris' love for Lancaster city life, coupled with his enthusiasm for gardening- particularly his famous hot peppers-added a unique flavor to his presence. He cherished moments spent with loved ones over shared meals, funny jokes, backyard fire pit gatherings and just celebrating the simple pleasures of life. His warmth and kindness resonated through his relationships with family and friends, who will remember him for the joy he brought into their lives.
Chris was a man of faith and loved to read his Bible. He trusted in God's written word, the Bible, and believed in God's promise for a brighter future as stated in Isaiah 65: 21, 22. Chris would want others to know of Revelation 21: 4 which says, "He [God] will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." And even though Chris is unable to be with us now, he would want you to have comfort in knowing that soon God will resurrect those sleeping in death and that his lack of presence is only momentary.
He leaves behind his parents Jon Tremellen and Helen Palko; a beloved daughter, Aura Kniele, wife of Joseph, a granddaughter, Jane; his siblings, Jon Tremellen (Judy) and Troy Tremellen (Christina), as well as extended family.
A funeral service will be held in his honor on July 7, 2026, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. on Lititz Pike. Public viewing will take place from 1:30 PM, leading into the service at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the funeral home to assist with expenses incurred from Chris' passing.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Christopher D. Tremellen, we invite all who knew him to partake in remembering his light, love, and the legacy he leaves behind. To honor his memory, may we carry forward his spirit of kindness, creativity, and compassion for one another.
