Charles Fitzgerald Thompson, 62, of Lititz, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Phoenixville Hospital.
Charles Fitzgerald Thompson peacefully entered into eternal rest, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife and family. While our hearts are filled with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that he is now resting safely in the loving hands of our Heavenly Father.
Charles shared a beautiful life filled with love, faith, and commitment with his beloved wife, Karen (Pope) Thompson. Their 36 years of marriage were a true testament to devotion, partnership, and God's enduring love. Together, they built a family rooted in faith, compassion, and love. Charles cherished being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and son.
Charles was born on February 5, 1964, in Erie, PA, to Linda Woodward. He grew into a man known for his integrity, kindness, strong work ethic with his faith in God.
Affectionately known as "Jerry," Charles was a graduate of East High School in Erie, PA, where he was heavily involved in athletics. He was a talented basketball player and coach who had a deep passion for helping and encouraging the youth in his community. Charles served as the Recreation Director at the Booker T. Washington Center in Erie for many years, where he dedicated his time and talents to making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
After relocating to Lititz, Charles continued his commitment to serving others through his faith and ministry. He worked in the ministry of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lancaster Pennsylvania under the leadership of Reverend Roland P. Forbes. Charles had a passion for football, playing the drums, and spending time with his family and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, the late Reverend Earl Woodward, and his brother, Roman Earl Thompson, of Erie.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Seandoia Brandon, Rachel, Chelsa and her spouse Steve, Jerrika, Tia and her spouse Nelson, Kimberly; his grandchildren, who brought him great joy. He also leaves his siblings, Angenique King of Erie, PA; Doresa and Darrell Thames of Greensboro, NC; Valerie Jones of Greensboro, NC; Dea Woodward; Edward Thompson; John Woodward (Tinishia) of Erie, PA; Mario Brewton of Wesley Chapel, FL; Carla Brewton of Erie, PA; and a host of extended family members, including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Charles truly loved his wife and family, but he loved God most of all. He learned to live his life as a servant of the Lord, sharing kindness, laughter, encouragement, and compassion with everyone he encountered. His loving spirit will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.
As a soldier for the Lord, Charles has completed his earthly journey and is now in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Charles on Saturday, July 25th at 10:00am in the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602. Cremation services will be provided for the family following the service.
