Charles Eugene Esterbrook, 92, of Akron, PA, passed away on October 6th, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with Alzheimer's disease and prostate cancer. He was born in Sunbury, PA on November 19, 1933, to the late Marvin and Anna Esterbrook. Charles is survived by his two children, Debra L. Franks-Boettcher and Mark B. Esterbrook. His loving wife of nearly 73 years preceded his death in 2025. Additionally, his son Karl A. Esterbrook and daughter, Lisa A. Esterbrook, preceded his death in 2025 and 1959, respectively. Charles is also survived by seven grandchildren (Schon, Jennifer, Kyle, Lauren, Megan, Evan, and Samantha) and three great grandchildren (Brendan, Anisa, and Ella).

First and foremost, Charles was a devoted husband and father. Shortly after graduating from Milton High School in 1951, he joined the US Navy and married his wife, Alice, on January 19, 1952. Charles spent the next three years serving as a Navy Corpsman (HN) assigned to the Marines in Korea. After the Korean War, Charlie took coursework in engineering and worked as a Draftsman for the remainder of his working years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, camping, cribbage, and playing clarinet. Most of all, however, Charles enjoyed spending time with his family. During the later part of his life, he dedicated his time to selflessly caring for his wife who also suffered from dementia for nearly 13 years. Through it all, Charlie demonstrated that love is best demonstrated by deeds, and a sense of humor can go a long way to managing life's inevitable challenges during difficult times.

Charles will be interred at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers or cards, please consider a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association.
