Carol M. Schreck

Carol M. Schreck, 84, of Lititz, passed away peacefully at Landis Homes on Friday, June 26, 2026. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Gavin and Kathleen (Wilkinson) Young. She was also the loving and faithful wife to Guenter “Peter” Schreck for over 60 years.

Carol spent much of her life in the field of Marriage and Family Counseling. For thirty years she served as profession of Marriage and Family Ministry at Palmer Theological Seminary (Eastern University) while also co-founding Kairos Counseling Services in Wayne, PA where she maintained a clinical practice in marriage and family therapy. She particularly enjoyed providing co-therapy with her husband, Peter, when working with couples.

As a follower of Jesus, Carol’s faith found expression not only in her professional life, but it also led her to volunteer for Highland Presbyterian mission trips, to be active in addressing social justice causes, to work with Habitat for Humanity – to love others on God’s behalf. Carol was the definition of a “people-person,” always taking the opportunity to meet new people and spend time with others. She had a natural intuition for recognizing the absolute best in anyone and reflecting those strengths back with newfound appreciation. She was also committed to self-care. She took time to stay active, often swimming or playing tennis, and she loved to grow, especially through travelling with Peter to Europe, Africa, or Latin America. And, of course, her love of other people certainly extended to her family, whom she cherished deeply (including her dog, Pippin).

Carol is survived by her husband; her children, Rachel (Park) de Porry and Johnathan (Jennifer) Schreck; her grandchildren, Aaron (Brittany) Schreck, Olivia Schreck (fiancé Reed), PJ (Jayla) de Porry, and Andrew de Porry; and great-grandchild Baby Boy Schreck, who is due in July. She is preceded in passing by her parents; and sister Diane Ferrabee.

A memorial service of Carol’s vibrant life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 East Roseville Road, Lancaster, PA at 11AM. The family will be receiving guests prior to the memorial service beginning at 9:30AM.
