Bruce Pratten

Bruce Pratten passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026, in Hospice care at the age of 93. 

He was born at home in Poughkeepsie, NY on December 14, 1932, and was an Air Force Korean War Veteran. He was quiet and unassuming by nature with a sly sense of humor and gave his family and pets unique nicknames. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, and bird watching and had a love and appreciation for the arts. A skilled painter, decorator and craftsman, Bruce worked for commercial businesses in Washington DC, IBM and the Roosevelt Museum. For 20 years he operated his own business in Germantown, NY and eventually moved to Lititz, PA where he worked for Stauffers of Kissel Hill and Manheim Auto Auction until retirement.

He is survived by his loving wife and life partner Barbara (Sanchez) Pratten of 57 years and stepdaughters Linda Harmsen, Pamela de Leon, and Barbara and Cliff Downey; grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family. He is predeceased by his step grandson Seger Downey and his stepdaughter Susan Craighead. Also from a previous marriage are his children Robert, Kevin, and Sharon and extended family.

His wife and family extend their gratitude to the VA Hospitals and Compassus Hospice for the compassionate care they provided Bruce during his illness.
