Bonnie Hess Shockey

Bonnie (Hess) Shockey, 81, of Millersville, PA, passed away at home on Thursday, February 12, 2026. Born in Gettysburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Phyllis (Fry) and Selmar Hess. She was the wife of Mark B. Shockey, with whom she shared 61 wonderful years of marriage.

Prior to retirement, Bonnie worked as a First Grade Teacher and later as a Reading Specialist for the Waynesboro Area School District until her retirement. She spent her career focused on elementary education and literacy instruction.

In her free time, Bonnie enjoyed quilting with friends from Waynesboro/Lancaster and Lake Waccamaw, golfing, and reading. She and her husband traveled frequently, especially to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Williamsburg, Virginia and many trips to the western US. She was also known for her apple pie, which she regularly prepared for family gatherings. Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Shockey; her son, Matt Shockey (Tina) of Lancaster; her daughter, Lisa (John) Willson; and her grandchildren, Thomas, Claire, Jake, John, and Eli. She was preceded in death by her brother “Beau” Selmar, Jr.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
