Bernard Michael Huxta

Bernard M. Huxta, 91, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Marion Heights PA to the late John Huxta and Anna (Slyachta) Huxta. Bernie was a skilled carpenter and retired from the Advertising Department of Armstrong World Industries after 45 years of employment. Shortly after retiring, he returned to work and joined Shadowlight Corp for 3 years. He then joined The Manheim Auto Auction and retired for the third time after 20 years. Bernie was a Veteran of the US Army having served in the 7th Corp Artillery stationed in Germany.

He was the loving husband of Jean (Arbogast) Huxta, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Bernie was always ready for his next adventure. He and Jean traveled extensively, visiting places such as China, Ireland, Italy, Turkey, Greece, the Caribbean and all over the United States.

He was a member of the Keiser Gun Club. He was also a member of the Marion Heights Fire Company, the Knights of Columbus, and the Hubley Club. Bernie was known for his wonderful sense of humor and was most proud of his beautiful yard. He cherished his Sunday dinners with family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Jean, Bernard is survived by his children, Jeanne (Larry) Lefever, Kay Miller (Robert), Denise Huxta Thompson, Melissa Huxta, Michael Huxta; his grandchildren, Tiffany Weiler, Amy Haines, Douglas Miller, Bradley Miller, Rebecca Redcay, Jonathan Miller and Maxwel Walters; and 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Irene Miller, as well as many extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandchildren Ryan Lefever and Brenda Miller, great grandson Jack Haines and four brothers and five sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 929 N Duke St, Lancaster, PA 17602 on Monday September 28, 2026, at 11am. Family invites guests to a viewing the day prior to Mass from 3 to 5pm at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz PA, 17543.
