Barton Paul Dunlap

Barton Paul Dunlap went to Jesus on October 27, 2026.

He entered this world on May 20, 1940, the son of Paul and Dorothea Dunlap. Bart leaves behind his beloved wife Mary of 58 years, sister Gail, son Michael and daughter-in-law Ingrid, daughter Tracy and son-in-law Tim White. His grandchildren, Nathanael and Hope Ana Dunlap, Elijah, Judah, and Micah White share many memories of the greatest grandpa ever.

Bart graduated from Abington High School in 1958, Kutztown University in 1962, and received his master’s degree from Temple University. He and his family lived in Warminster for 51 years attending Lehman United Methodist Church in Hatboro where he sang in the sanctuary choir. He and Mary moved to Woodcrest Villa in Lancaster where they’ve spent nine wonderful years meeting many new friends. His Gardenia Place neighbors enjoyed watching him survey the property as he zipped along on his scooter. Throughout their marriage, the family enjoyed summers together on Long Beach Island and Sea Isle City in New Jersey. He was known for his fabulous sand sculptures that many people enjoyed. He passed on that ability and fun to his grandchildren and children. Vacationing throughout the southern and western United States, traveling to Europe, and enjoying life with friends and family were huge benefits of his retirement.

To say he was a talented artist doesn’t even touch the ability that each of his many friends would attest to. He was a dedicated educator, teaching in the Pocono Mountain Junior and Senior High Schools, William Tennent High School, and Cheltenham High School for a total of over 40 years. Every teacher he worked with, every person he touched, benefited from his unique artistic talent. Paintings, caricatures, and cards were only samples of what Bart has contributed to the world. An example is if he attended your wedding 40 years ago, you received an anniversary card from him every year. If you touched his life in any way, you received a birthday card from him every year.

His love of life, his unique sense of humor, his kindness, and most of all his love of his Lord Jesus Christ shown from him in so many ways. He was loved by many people and will be sorely missed by them in this life. His family wants to acknowledge the superb kindness and care he received for his final days at Trillium Place in Lancaster.

Friends and family will be received for a time of visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, 2026, at Woodcrest Villa in the Gamber Auditorium, 2001 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. A Celebration of Life Service will follow beginning at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Bart’s name to Trillium Place at: tandemlivingpa.org/giving.
