Barbara Aileen Buehrer

After many joyous memories created and a life well lived, we announce the passing of Barbara Aileen Buehrer, aged 71, who left us peacefully on September 17, 2026. Barbara was born on January 28, 1955, in El Cerrito, California, to William and Mary (Blakey) Gilmore, and she was the eldest of three siblings. 

Barbara's laughter was contagious, bringing joy to all around her. She created a beautiful life alongside her devoted husband, Robert Buehrer, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. Their love story began in college in California before taking them to Washington State, where they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. 

A proud grandmother, Barbara took delight in every moment spent with her grandchildren. Each year, she looked forward to hosting high tea in honor of her granddaughter's birthday, creating traditions that will be fondly remembered. She celebrated her grandson’s success as a football player, a passion she lovingly shared with her father. And most recently she enjoyed basking in the outdoors and collecting fireflies with her youngest grandson.

Having moved to Lititz in 2022, Barbara became an active member of the Lancaster Evangelical Free Church, where she connected with her new community. She brought her warmth and kindness to every gathering, becoming known for her love of the Christmas season, delighting in holiday lights and sharing hot chocolate with loved ones. 

Barbara maintained many enduring friendships throughout her life, with her sister Dorothy standing out as her closest companion and confidante. An avid gardener, Barbara was particularly proud of the rose bushes flourishing at the end of her driveway, which stood as a testament to her nurturing spirit and love for nature. 

A Memorial Service to honor Barbara's remarkable life will be held on September 26, 2026, at the Lancaster Evangelical Free Church, 419 Pierson Rd. Lititz, PA. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the service at 1:00 PM. Memorial contributions are encouraged to be made to the church’s youth program.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Robert Buehrer, their son Evan Buehrer, husband of Jessica of Lititz, her beloved grandchildren, Haleigh, Nolan, and Ryker, her siblings, Dorothy Budd (Glenn) and Donald Gilmore (Robin), nieces and nephews, Amy, Audra, David, Andrew, Scott, and Trevor, a host of extended family, as well as countless friends in Lititz and Washington. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.
