Dr. Anthony F. Russo

Anthony F. Russo, age 83, passed away on June 2nd, 2026, surrounded by his six loving daughters. Born on September 4th, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York. Anthony was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Helen, for 58 years before her passing to heaven in 2022. Together, they raised six wonderful daughters and were the proud grandparents to fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandson. Anthony’s greatest priority was always his wife and children.

He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and took immense pride in being a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, creating lasting memories, and supporting them through every stage of their lives.

Anthony was known for his wisdom, strength, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. Anthony attended Saint Francis Preparatory School in Queens, New York, and earned his undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College. He began his medical education at Creighton University Medical School in Omaha, Nebraska, and later took his family to Italy to continue his studies at the University of Padua. He returned to the United States and graduated from Creighton University Medical School. Anthony completed his residency at North Shore University Hospital on Long Island, New York. Anthony and his family moved to Lancaster in 1989, where he was the chief of psychiatry at St. Joseph Hospital. He later worked at Lancaster General Health, Philhaven, and York Memorial Hospital. Throughout his professional career as a psychiatrist, he cared deeply for his patients and approached his work with compassion, knowledge, and understanding. His legacy of love, devotion, and service will live on through his children and their children. While his family mourns his loss, they find comfort and peace in knowing he has been reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Helen. Anthony will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved him.

He is survived by his daughters, Margaret A. Fitzpatrick (husband, Shawn) of Lititz, Elizabeth A. Migdon (husband, Michael) of Lancaster, Anna M. Mollitor (husband, Gary) of Mountville, Felicia A. Eberwein (husband, Mel) of York, Helena M. Proler (husband, Benjamin) of Lancaster, and Diana F. Feguer (husband, Robert) of Elizabethtown; his 14 grandchildren, Alyssa (husband, Shawn), Jamie, Maxwell, Gabrielle, Anthony (wife, Chloe), Victoria, Catherine, Marc, Marissa, Daniel, Zachary, Dominick, Thomas, and Lilianna; and a great grandson Carter. He was preceded in passing by his wife of 58 years, Helen Russo, his parents, Peter and Anna (Casimo) Russo and a sister, Felicia Braito.

The family invite guests to a viewing on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 from 5 – 8 PM, and on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd. Lancaster, PA 17601 at 11 AM with a viewing at the church at 10 AM. Interment to follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
