Anna Karpathios, born in Kos, Greece, in March of 1937, who lived a life rooted in faith, family, and unconditional love; passed away June 6th, 2026. She immigrated to the United States in 1969 with her husband Emmanuel, bringing with her the values of her village; hard work, humility, gratitude, and a deep devotion to her Greek Orthodox faith, which guided her throughout her life.

Anna's faith was quiet and deeply personal. As a devout member of the Greek Orthodox Church, she lived her life trusting in God's will and drawing strength from prayer, tradition, and her unwavering belief in eternal life. Prior to her stroke she was involved in the Philoprotochos Society, she made the prosthora (the offering bread) and was involved with the Greek Bazaar. She found great comfort in knowing that one day she would be reunited in Heaven with her husband, the love of her life, who passed away ten years ago. Her faith gave her peace and shaped the way she loved others-with patience, compassion, forgiveness, and grace.

Known as "Anna," she left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She worked various jobs and devoted herself fully to her family. Alongside her husband, she helped run their tailoring shop, Manny's Professional Tailoring, standing by his side through decades of shared work, sacrifice, and devotion. Their love was obvious. They were often seen sitting together in chairs on the front lawn, growing their vegetables, waving to neighbors and cars passing by. A couple who had grown old together with a love that was abundant, and enduring.

Anna was the sweetest mom and friend anyone could ask for. She had a rare ability to make people feel seen and valued, reminding them that their mistakes did not define them. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to always strive to be the best versions of themselves, offering love without judgment and support without condition.

Her home was a place of warmth, peace, and nourishment. Anyone who entered her home, whether family, friend, or even a service worker, was expected to eat. Feeding others was her way of expressing love and hospitality. If she met you, she loved you. If she loved you, she fed you. She firmly believed that everyone needed to eat, including the dogs, whom she insisted on feeding from the dinner table during family gatherings, no matter how many times she was told it wasn't a good idea.

Her greatest joy was being near her children and her grandchildren. Family was the center of her life and the legacy she leaves behind. In her later years, she cherished the time spent with her daughter Maria, her devoted caretaker, who lovingly took her to restaurants, to do activities and to visit family-simple moments that meant everything to her. She also deeply cherished the times her son Jim took her to church, where she was known, loved, and embraced by the elders of the community, and she treasured the smile and laughter her youngest son Paul always brought to her face.

Coming from an impoverished village, Anna remained grateful for even the smallest blessings despite stopping her education at a young age to work in the fields to help provide for her family. She was lovingly stubborn, especially about finishing your plate. The resonating sound of "eat, eat, eat" will echo in the minds of all knew her. She was deeply committed to the belief that family comes first. A value she instilled in her children and grandchildren and that will live on through them.

Anna is survived by her children Jim, Maria and Paul; her brother Andrew Karpouzis; her beloved grandchildren; Taylor, Luke, Braedon, Macy and Michael and many extended family members and friends who felt her warmth, kindness, and faith the moment they met her.

If there is one message her family would want to share, it is this...

"Ma we all love you and anyone fortunate enough to have met you loves you too. Your love will be felt throughout our lifetime, and you will always be with us to protect, guide us and remind us of what truly matters - family. We will find comfort and peace knowing that your faith has been fulfilled and you will be reunited in heaven with the love of your life, our dad. Your memory will be eternal"
