Angel Luis Ortiz

Angel “Gin” Luis Ortiz, 78, of Lancaster, passed away at home on April 14, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born February 1, 1948, in Patilla, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Simona Ortiz.

He will be remembered as a devout Christian man. Oftentimes found reading the Bible with the radio playing gospel music, and his laptop open watching preachers spread the word. If he wasn’t studying the Bible, he was smiling and helping others however he could. He enjoyed driving around collecting random items and helping others and in later years when he was no longer able to drive, he would be found walking around, regardless of the weather. He enjoyed cooking cod with potatoes and eggs but would not eat much saying “I’m not getting all fat”. His sense of humor, outgoing personality, and relaxed demeanor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gin is survived by his children, Gloribel Ortiz, and Angel Ortiz Jr., both of Lancaster; a sister, Leonides Almestica of Lancaster; nieces and nephews, Sam M. Martinez (Kim), Noemi Rodriguez, Jamaira Soto, and Jose Soto; grandchildren, Victor Llanos, Jayden Llanos, Serenity Llanos, and Daisy Ortiz, as well as a great granddaughter, Norialise.

A Funeral Service honoring Angel will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Iglesia Evangelica El Buen Pastor, 645 Harrison St. Lancaster, PA 17602, beginning at 12 PM. The family will welcome guests from 11 AM until the service. Interment to follow at Riverview Burial Park.

In Gin’s memory everyone is encouraged to approach life as he did, appreciate the day and handle things as they arrive, no need to stress the unknown.
