Aline Lillias Barilar, age 64, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on August 13, 2026. Born in Williamsport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony J. and Doris (Lape) Barilar. Aline was the long-time companion of Gregory T. Smith.
She was a graduate of Loyalsock Township High School, Williamsport, PA and Lancaster School of Business, Lancaster, PA. She was a member of Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church.
Aline was employed as an administrative assistant by the Lancaster County Courthouse in the Assessment and Children and Youth Offices.
Aline loved life and celebrated daily with church, family, music and a fearless love of animals from spiders to elephants, but most of all horses and kittens. Prior to the onset of her illness, the highlight of her life was a 20 day safari in Kenya and Zimbabwe, Africa. She loved exercising. She was an accomplished athlete during her high school years in gymnastics, swimming and track.
In addition to Gregory Smith, her companion, Aline is survived by brothers; Bruce Barilar (Karen) of Lititz, PA and John Barilar (Margie) of Chestertown, MD, niece Jacqueline Barilar of Lititz, PA, nephew Austin Barilar (Alexandria) of Middletown, DE, niece Larissa Billings (Rob) of Chestertown, MD, her companion’s family, Stephen S. Smith of Lower Gwynedd, PA, Barbara L. Giffuni of Southampton, NY, Yvonne M. Yohe of Columbia, PA, Annetta V. Cracraft of Lancaster, PA and Patricia A. Schmidt of Lancaster, PA. Aline was predeceased in death by her sister, Ann M. Barilar.
Friends will be received from 10-11 AM with a Celebration of Aline’s Life to begin at 11 AM on Monday, August 31, 2026 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St, Lancaster, PA 17602. Aline will be laid to rest at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Columbia, PA.
