Yanesoreya T. Powell, 74

May 01, 2021

Yanesoreya T. Powell, 74, of Lancaster passed away at home in the warm embrace of her husband on May 1, 2021. Born in Vietnam, she was the daughter of the late Kien Sot and Thach Thi Cavanh. On April 23rd she celebrated her 35th wedding anniversary to her soulmate, Leon Powell, Sr.

She was a parishioner of the Worship Center in Leola where she participated in the Bible studies and was part of First Steps Ministry. Her warm, honest demeaner was cherished by all who knew her, which made her the perfect candidate for welcoming new members to the church.

Yanesoreya will be remembered for having the beautiful gift of always making others feel special. She was also quite honest and had a bold presence. You never had to question how she felt about something because she would share her opinion whether you liked it or not.

She will be sorely missed by her husband Leon, children: Leon Powell Jr. of Glenolden, PA and LaChelle Cooper, wife of David of Pennsauken, NJ, grandchildren: Ashley, Deion, Dominick, Chaveala and Larin Powell, and Sean, Kayla, and Leilani Cooper, great grandchildren: Maurice Voss and Cohen Powell, all who affectionately referred to her as “Grandma Soreya”, siblings: Serei Comley (Wayne) of Blackwood, NJ, Yuthini Thach (the late Sanh) of St. Petersburg, FL, Sereivuth Sot of Pennsauken, NJ, Sereivuthi Thach (Son) of Cherry Hill, NJ and Sovann Sot (Diane) of Southampton, NJ, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in passing by her parents and a sibling, Sovath Sot.

Friends and family are invited to attend the viewing at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 1PM, the funeral service will begin at 2PM.

Brother Leon, I just wanted to take a moment to say that even though I was only able to meet your sweet wife later in your lives knowing you both has been such a blessing. Seeing the two of you interact has been a testament to your love and devotion to one another. When I think of you, I always remember your love for one another. I remember the last time I saw Soreya. It was when you all came to our new location. She was so precious with Uzziah, our baby boy. She just kept saying how precious he was. It brings such a smile to my face when I think of her. Please accept my sympathies as although we know where Soreya is, with our amazing Father and King, her absence brings sadness. From Shaggie, Evon, and the kids, We love you.

Dearest Uncle Leon,
We are so saddened to hear of Aunt Soreya’s passing.  We cannot fully express the sorrow that we feel at this time. We are thinking about you always. The fondest memory was when we all went to the dinner in Lancaster.  She was so excited and we cherished every moment.  Sorry, we could not make it due to a covid exposure.  What a beautiful service!  Our thoughts and prayers are with you always.
With All Our Love, Danielle & Nick
