William S. Ziegfeld, 81
William S. Ziegfeld, 81 of Lancaster died Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at Moravian Manor.
Born in Columbus, OH, he was the son of the late Carl and Dorothy Ziegfeld. He was the husband of Virginia Wilson Ziegfeld with whom he celebrated 57½ loving years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son; Stephen W. Ziegfeld of Lancaster married to Sandra M. Hollinger also of Lancaster, a sister, Catherine A. Ziegfeld of Harrisburg, a granddaughter; Pamela, and a sister, Dorothy Bishop of Dunedin, Florida. He loved spending time with his family.
William served his country in WWII as a Sergeant in the Army receiving a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Employed by Armstrong World Industries for more than 38 years as an Industrial Engineer, he worked his way up to Manager of Packaging. He was highly respected for his knowledge and expertise in warehouse design and packaging both inside and outside the company.
He was dearly loved by his family and respected by all who knew him. He was past president of the Lancaster Jaycees, an active Rotarian, and actively involved in Quest and the Lancaster YMCA. He was a founding member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church serving his Lord on the Vestry as well as many other facets of church ministry.
A celebratory memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 21 at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Moravian Manor, 300 West Lemon Street, Lititz, PA 17543 with Rev. John Baldwin officiating. Friends may call at the Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to in his name to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
