January 22, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Meluskey of Willow Street, PA on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Lancaster, PA and was a 1962 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School where he played football.
Upon graduation, he began his employment with Armstrong World Industries where he worked as a pipefitter for 37 years, retiring in 1999.
He was the loving husband of Carol Hilbert Meluskey for 53 years and the father of Matthew William Meluskey and Mark William Meluskey. Their happiness was the most important thing to him in life. Bill was the son of the late Matthew J. and Hannah McCaughey Meluskey.
Bill was a sports enthusiast. His favorite teams were the Eagles and Phillies. He enjoyed talking politics to anyone who would listen. Great times were spent at concerts and Catholic High sporting events with his wife and friends. He also cherished many special occasions with his family.
In addition to his wife and sons, Bill is survived by three sisters-in-law who were very special to him – Janet Rudy, Pat LeFever, and Sue Hottenstein, a brother-in-law Ray Hottenstein, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Jack Meluskey, his maternal grandparents John and Eva Trunzie McCaughey, and by his paternal grandparents Stanley and Pauline Dombrowski Meluskey.
Bill was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lancaster, PA, where he was a former usher and a participant in Perpetual Adoration for many years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Father Pang Tcheou officiating.
