William J. “Will” Ballard, 47

May 20, 2021

William J. “Will” Ballard, 47, of Lancaster, passed away at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Sarah A. (Coffey) Ballard and the late William J. Holland.

Most will remember Will for his strong work ethic and drive to help others. He would often help kids in need by helping them find employment and make a way for themselves. Those who knew Will best, knew he was a die-hard New York Giants fan. He also enjoyed music and dancing.

He will be sorely missed by his mother Sarah, children: Derrall, Shade, Shaniya, and Janaeyah Ballard, grandchildren: Zariah and Ayanna, and siblings, James, Charles, David, Bobby, Robert Jr., Odis, Kevin, Joyce, Willie Mae, Vera, Diane, Ruby and Pat. Will is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. He was preceded in passing by his father, William J. Holland, stepfather, Robert E. Ballard, Sr., and siblings, Lyndon, Eddie, Betty Jean, and Larry.

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service at 2PM on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St. Lancaster, PA 17602. A viewing will be held from 1PM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Will’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.

My condolences to Will’s family.  I first met Will in 3rd or 4th grade at George Washington Elementary School.  He sat right next to me.  He was always the nicest person and I always enjoyed being around him in school.  I kinda lost touch with Will when we got to McCaskey, but when I saw him, we would always say hi to each other.  He was always very nice, respectful and had this laugh that no one would ever forget.  He was always smiling or looking at someone with the corner of his eye.  I will never forget Will.  He will be missed very much.  Will’s family, may the God of comfort, console all of you in this time.
