William J. Dorgan, 77
William “Bill” J. Dorgan, 77, of 1808 Larchmont Lane, Lancaster, died Thursday, January 19, 2006, at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late William and Anna Dorgan, and the stepson of the late Rose Dorgan. Bill was the husband of Mary Mullins Dorgan, with whom he celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this past May 25th.
Working for the RCA Corp. for 18 years until 1972, he was a marketing analyst for the Lancaster location, and had previously served as a credit manager and in finance in the New Jersey division.
He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, and was an active volunteer with festivals and bingo at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. While living New Jersey, he had acted in the Passion Play for 15 years in Union City.
Bill enjoyed golf, and had been active with the Boy Scouts of America in past years.
He was a graduate of St. Peters Preparatory School and St. Peters College in Jersey City, where he earned a BS in Business Administration.
A US Army veteran, he served in Germany following World War II, and again during the Korean War as a PFC.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Joseph G. of Lancaster, and William G. of Birmingham, Alabama. He was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Joseph A. Dorgan, S.J.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 6-8PM, with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:30pm, at the Charles Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Friends will again be received on Thursday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA from 10-11AM with Mass to follow at 11AM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
