William Henry Toner, Jr., 72

Our well-loved brother and uncle, William Henry Toner, Jr., 72, died on October 22, 2017 in Ephrata. He was born in Philadelphia to the late William Henry Toner and Anna May Walton Toner. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Mary Anne Pickett Toner, who died in 1996.
He is survived by his sister, Carol Toner Shane and her husband Edward, nephews, E. Brendan Shane (Nancy Markoe), Robert (Rory) and Jeffrey (Megan) Pickett, niece, A. Megan Hellstedt, (Erik), eight grand nieces and nephews, dear cousins, and many good friends.
Bill was a graduate of Friends Select School, Franklin & Marshall College and William and Mary. He did additional study at Clark University. His passions were film, art, politics, and all things Brit-ish. He taught history, directed the Wyoming (PA) and Maine Historical Societies, worked at Worcester Art Museum and was a career services director at Princeton University. He was a kind and gentle man whose finely tuned sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, December 2nd at 11 a.m. at the Lancaster Friends Meeting (Quakers), 110 Tulane Terrace, Lancaster, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Mary Anne Pickett Toner Britain Study Travel Fund at Lake Forest College, Illinois.
