William H. Patton, 87

William H. Patton, 87, of Ephrata Township, passed away at Ephrata Manor on Wednesday, January 8, 2020. He was born in Akron, OH, to the late William Henry and Velma M. (Arweller) Patton.
Bill marked 64 years of marriage with his wife Nancy A. (Dersh) Patton last February 6th. They enjoyed a wonderful trip to Hawaii to celebrate their 25th anniversary.
A graduate of Pottstown High School, Class of 1949, Bill served in the Army as a Tech Sargent with “C” Battery 63rd Field Artillery Battalion in Korea during the Korean War.
Following his military service time, Bill worked for Firestone Rubber & Tire Company in Pottstown until the plant closed, and then for Occidental Chemical Company, also in Pottstown.
Bill enjoyed fishing for carp and catfish at Speedwell Forge Lake and on the Susquehanna River on the South side of Safe Harbor Dam. An excellent wood craftsman, Bill made much of the family furniture and miniature car replicas.
In addition to his loving wife Nancy, Bill is survived by their son, Kevin Lee Patton; five grandchildren, Daniel Patton, David Patton and his fiancée Jessica, Natalie, wife of Josiah Mellinger, Christopher Simmons and Emily, wife of Ryan Foltz; three great-grandchildren, Avery Fisher and Isabella and William Foltz; as well as his brother Richard Patton, husband of Patricia. Bill was preceded in death by his daughter Suzon Simmons, his brother Harlan Patton and his sister Ruth Morgan.
Private inurnment with Military Honors will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. Please omit flowers and kindly consider making a contribution in Bill’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, 1249 Cocoa Ave., Ste. 115, P.O. I will certainly miss my visits with you and Bill in the evenings. I’m so glad I came in thst last time and he raised his hand even though he was too weak to talk. May God give you and all of his family peace and comfort in your time of loss.
