William (Bill) Patrick Ebersole, 68

November 22, 2022

William (Bill) Patrick Ebersole was born on September 16, 1954 in New London, CT and on November 22, 2022 passed away in Lancaster, PA. He lived in Louisville, KY for the last 16 years and recently moved to Lancaster to be close to family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John H. Ebersole and Marian Ebersole, and his brother Joseph Ebersole. He is survived by his children Blythe Ebersole of Oakland, CA and Patrick Ebersole of San Diego, CA; his siblings Richard (Anita) Ebersole of Collierville, TN, Michael (Cathy) Ebersole of Elizabeth, CO, Catherine Walker (Bob) of Lancaster, PA, John Ebersole (Denise) of Saint Charles, IL, and Paula Mason of Atlanta, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat Bumpus.

Bill attended Manheim Township High School in Lancaster, PA before graduating from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He enjoyed a fulfilling career in hospitality with Marriott hotels. His work brought him to Denver, CO, Salt Lake City, UT, San Diego, CA, Hilton Head Island, SC, and Louisville, KY. He helped organize events like the Kentucky Derby, major conventions and countless others, but took the most pride in the time he spent coaching his teams.

Bill was known for his love of stories, affection for animals, and creative mind. He was concerned about the state of democracy and was politically engaged from the time he spent volunteering for the Carter presidential campaign to his eager participation in the 2022 midterm election. Above all, he cared deeply for his family, colleagues, and friends. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 10:00AM on December 9th, 2022, at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 East King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations to Everytown for Gun Safety or your favorite charity.

I am so sorry to read the news of Bill’s passing.  I was very lucky to have known him during my days with Marriott Hotesl at the Seaview Country Club Resort in Absecon, New Jersey.  What a wild time we had managing the Restaurant operstions at a seasonal resport.  Bill taught me so much about leadership and work ethic.  RIP Bill, and thank you for the important lessons you taught me.

I worked with Bill while he was in San Diego at the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina. I remember his excitement when he was allowed to get internet on his work pc (aol days). I would hang in his office and he would show me this amazing new thing, internet, and he helped open my eyes to it. Because of Bill exposing me to WWW it started me off into computers and my current job. I will forever be grateful to Bill for that, but not only that but also his stories about his life, father and so on. Bill was so funny he always made me laugh. I am thankful to have had Bill in my life and will never forget him. Thank you Bill you were a good man, friend, and beautiful memory. Carlos Carrillo
