Walter C. “Walt” Popejoy, 72

Walter C. “Walt” Popejoy, 72, of Lititz passed away peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lafayette, IN he was the son of the late Walter B. and Ida L. (Cohee) Popejoy. He was the loving husband of Carrell (Walker) Popejoy with whom he shared 16 years of marriage.
Walt was a 1962 graduate of Elmer L. Meyers High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA and later graduated from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science.
He was the owner of Benner’s Pharmacy in Lititz for over 30 years. After retiring, he assisted other pharmacies and volunteered at the Heart of Lancaster Medical Center for over 5 years, where he was named volunteer of the year. Walt was a member of various clubs and associations in the Lititz area.
Walt loved traveling, camping, his family, dogs, his collection of Coca-Cola merchandise and had an affinity with Christmas inflatables.
In addition to his wife Carrell, he is survived by his children: Wally Popejoy, husband of Audra of Lebanon, PA, Sherri Morgan, wife of Tony of Halifax, PA, Kristina Garman, wife of Dennis of Manheim, and Geoffrey Bloomer of Fayetteville, NC. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Hannah, Gavin, Owen, Davis, Gage, Abby; a sister, Charolette Popejoy of Wallingford, CT and a brother, William Popejoy of PA. He is also survived by a host of others that considered him “PA PA”.
A Celebration of Walt’s Life will be held at 2:30PM on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Interment will be in Witness Park, Lititz. A viewing will be held from 6-9PM on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
