Walter A. “Wally” Newton, 68
Walter A. “Wally” Newton, 68, of Valleybrook Drive, Lancaster died Thursday afternoon at ManorCare surrounded by his son, family and friends.
He was self-employed at Newton Promotion Sales. He served in the United States Army in Germany from 1961 to 1963.
Born in Oil City, PA, he was the son of the late Walter A. Newton and Hazel L. Webster Newton Freed. He was raised in Jefferson, NC and came to Lancaster in 1951. He served as President of the Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers from 1991 to 1993. He volunteered with the American Cancer Society.
He is survived by his son, Walter W. married to Heather Newton and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, T. Ann Wilson.
A memorial service will be held at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 202, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
