Vinh Le Banh, 97

May 03, 2025

Vinh Le Banh, 97, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025 surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Vinh’s life was the embodiment of the Chinese idiom 先苦后甜 (xian ku, hou tian), enduring early hardships to embrace the sweetness of life in one’s later years.

Through the decades, she readily reinvented herself. As a girl, she set out on her own, moving from a small village to a big city. As a young woman, she ran both a full household and the family business with her late husband, Phuong Di Tran. No matter the challenge — protecting her family through the Vietnam War, living in a refugee camp, rebuilding anew in America — she always acted with courage and optimism.

Vinh leaves behind many legacies, chief of which is her family. She is survived by six children, Nguon Tran, Liep Tran, Gia Tran, Tuyet Tang, Ann Louie, and Tho Tran, as well as their spouses Kim Tran, Tu Muoi Tran, Judy Tran, Phat Trang, Minh Tang, Joseph Louie, and Rebecca Tran. She was a doting grandmother to twelve grandchildren and joyful great grandmother to fourteen great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son Duc Oai Tran and her great grandson Nathaniel Lee.

Vinh’s enthusiasm for life’s wonders is also a great legacy of hers. All will remember fondly her awe of fireworks lighting up the sky at Longwood Park, her simple joy during a family beach day in New York, and her quiet delight at clearing out the buffet. But perhaps one of her greatest legacies is her warm laugh, which came to her easily and frequently — and which will live on forever in our hearts.

Family and friends are welcome to attend Vinh’s viewing and memorial service, which will be held at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, on Sunday, May 11, 2025, from 8:00AM to 12:00PM. The family respectfully requests no flowers. Memorial donations can be made to the Chinese Bible Church of Lancaster: https://www.cbclpa.org/give/
