Thomas M. Ramsland, 90
July 15, 2024
Thomas M. Ramsland, 90, of Willow Valley Communities, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, July 15, 2024. Born in Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late August and Gudrun (Tonnessen) Ramsland. Tom was the loving husband of Joyce (Herbert) Ramsland, with whom he would have celebrated 64 years of marriage in August.
A 1952 graduate of West Orange High School, West Orange, NJ, he attended Trinity College, Chicago, for one year, before his enlistment in the US Army where he proudly served from 1955 to 1957. After being honorably discharged, Tom went on to work with his father as a carpenter before joining Bendix/Honeywell where he worked until his retirement in 2001.
A faithful Christian, Tom was a member of Calvary Evangelical Free Church, Essex Fells, NJ, where he served as an usher, trustee and was a leader in the Christian Service Brigade ministry. Since he had no boys at home this ministry gave him an opportunity to touch the lives of many young men. After moving to Belvidere, NJ, he then joined Blairstown Evangelical Free Church and later attended Mount Bethel Church. In 2019, Tom and Joyce moved to Willow Valley and have attended Grace Community Church.
A skilled craftsman, Tom enjoyed woodworking and building homemade wood crafts. Tom loved spending time with his family, especially the opportunities to go camping when the family was young and travel the world after the kids were grown.
In addition to his wife, Joyce, Tom is survived by his daughters: Cheryl (Glenn) Knudsen; Cindy (Kurt) Gewecke; and Kimberly (Glenn) Harwood. He was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren: Steven Knudsen, Kristin (Knudsen) and her husband Kevan Van Stone, Courtney (Knudsen) and her husband Alec Bell, Austin Gewecke and his wife Christin, Kayla (Gewecke) and her husband Michael McSweeney, Cooper Gewecke and his wife Madeline, Molly Gewecke, Thomas James Harwood and his wife Kayla, Hannah (Harwood) and her husband Connor Kirk, Jennifer Harwood, Joshua Harwood, Davy Harwood and Annabella Harwood; 4 great-grandchildren, Josie, Hallie, Selah, and James; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his six siblings: Arnold, Tulla, Helga, Lillian, August, and Gladys.
A Celebration of Life Service for Tom will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Grace Community Church, 212 Peach Bottom Rd., Willow Street, PA 17584. A time of visitation and fellowship will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom’s memory may be made to Grace Community Church Missionary Fund.

Please know you’ve been on our minds & hearts as you journey this path. You dad was an amazing man of God … and he certainly left his mark on you & many of others … a mark for Christ. We pray that your tears will mingle with joy & laughter and the “empty spot” with the fullness of memories.
