Steve Weaver (Mark), 69
December 16, 2025
Steve Weaver (Mark), age 69, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on December 16th at Magnolia’s of Lancaster after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He was surrounded by his loving daughters and wife.
He was born on March 1, 1956, in Lancaster to Luke (Martin) and Lois Weaver. From an early age, Steve was known as a loyal friend and a kind, obedient child, as his mother often remarked. He was a dedicated athlete, enjoying basketball, baseball, and football both at the park and on the sandlot with neighborhood friends. In his later years, he continued his passion for sports at McCaskey High School, graduating in 1974. He went on to pursue his Bachelor’s degree from Franklin and Marshall College and graduated in 1979 and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from St. Francis, graduating in 1988.
Steve dedicated much of his life to being a loving and supportive father and husband. He was actively involved in his daughters’ lives, coaching their basketball and soccer teams, and was always found on the sidelines cheering them on and always supporting their various passions. A committed businessman at Lancaster Newspapers, Steve was renowned for his strong work ethic, dedication, and camaraderie. His career began at a young age, starting as a stock boy at the corner store and running morning routes as a newspaper boy. In 1974, he joined Lancaster Newspapers in the maintenance department, embarking on a 40-year career. Through hard work and perseverance, he was promoted throughout his tenure, ultimately concluding his career in 2014 as the Director of Human Resources and Administration.
Outside of work, he found joy in spending time with his beloved dogs, as well as indulging in his passion for hunting and playing golf. He was deeply committed to his community, dedicating significant time to volunteering with various non-profits and chamber associations. He served as a Trustee and Chairman of the Lancaster County Business Group on Health, represented the United Way of Lancaster, and spent many years on the board of the Lancaster City Mounted Police.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and his greatest pride was his family. He was the ultimate girl-dad! He is survived by his wife, Kim Marie Weaver (Burkhardt), his daughters, Kathryn Elizabeth Weaver, Rebecca Ann Weaver and Rachael Lynn Weaver, his mother Lois Weaver (Bradley) and siblings Beverly Thomas, Brenda Dooley and Michael Weaver and granddaughters Charlotte Freeman-Weaver and Adalynn Freeman-Weaver. He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Luke Weaver.
He was a pillar of strength and stability for his family and a source of inspiration for everyone who knew him. Known for his calm demeanor and presence, Steve had an extraordinary ability to listen, offering support and help whenever it was needed. His thoughtful and intentional approach to life reflected his deep commitment to his values, guiding him in every endeavor. He was cherished for his genuine kindness and ability to make those around him feel valued and understood. Steve leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and integrity, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
