Stefanos P. Billis, 94
Stefanos P. Billis, 94, of Lancaster, died Friday, August 24, 2012, at Hospice & Community Care, Good Drive. Born in St. George, Sikousis, Chios, Greece, he was the son of the late Panagiotis S. and Eleni Mountis Billis. His wife of 47 years, Angeliki Kalargyros Billis died in 2009.
Serving in the Greek Army during WWII in the North African Campaign, he participated in the Battle of El Alamein. Stefanos retired from the shipping department of Alcoa after 17 years. He loved his church the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. He enjoyed gardening, traveling back to Greece, telling stories of true experiences and spending time with his family and friends.
A devout husband, father and grandfather, Stefano is survived by 3 children, Eleni Mamas of Lancaster, Peter S. Billis, husband of Viktoriya of Lancaster and Nicholas S. Billis, husband of Athena of Lititz; 7 grandchildren, Mariah, Anna and Costas Mamas, Stefanos P. and Serafima Billis, and Stefanos M. and Angeliki Billis; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings Konstantine Billis and Despina Patounas.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, with The Rev. Dr. Alexander Goussetis, The Rev. Alexander Veronis and The Rev. Hector Firoglanis officiating. A Viewing will be held at the church 6-9 PM Monday, August 27, 2012, with the Trisagion Service at 7:30 PM, and another viewing 9:30-10:30 AM Tuesday. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. Please omit flowers.
