Stanley F. Shenberger

Stanley F. Shenberger, born in Lancaster, PA on September 26, 1925, son of the late Arthur and Bessie Shenberger, passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2007. 

He served 23 years in the United States army.  He was a World War II veteran in the 2nd Armored Calvary.  He also served in the 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment (Brave Rifles) in Baumholder, Germany.  He retired from the military in 1966.

In 1990 he retired from Rochester Germicide.

He enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveling, kite flying, and spending time with his family.

He attended Grace Baptist Church of Lancaster.  He was a member of American Legion Post 34.  He was a past member of Lancaster Dance Club, the After 6 Dance Club, Cloister Dance Club, and the Star Light Dance Club.  He was also a member of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Association.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, C. Shirley Shenberger.  His first wife of 33 years, Hedy Fischer Shenberger, passed away in 1982.  He is also survived by daughters, H. Lois Barajas, wife of Tony, of Holtwood, Jean A. Singleton, wife of Dennis, of New Providence, Dawn L. Colton, wife of Douglas, of Lancaster; sons, Stanley F. Shenberger Jr., husband of Barb of Charlotte, NC, Eugene P. Shenberger of Leola, Steven M. Shenberger, husband of Elaine, of Jenson Beach, FL, Bruce A. Shenberger, husband of Carlene, of Leola; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Bailey of Darlington, MD, Lois Hostetter of Pequea, Graceann Aukamp of New Providence, Darlene Fair of Willow Street, Geraldine Maurer of Manheim; and brother, Claude Shenberger of New Providence.  He was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur Shenberger, Jr., Paul E. Shenberger, Barry Shenberger, & Bennie Shenberger.

Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 2 PM at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel Inc., 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA.  A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 PM, and again on Saturday from 1 until 2 PM.  Interment will be in Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Stanley’s memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604, or American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 202, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
