Ruth Oberdorf, 71
March 11, 2024
Ruth Oberdorf, 71, of Paradise, PA, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024. She was born to the late Ivan and Virginia Hershey in Lancaster. Ruth dedicated 22 years of her life to serving as a pharmacy technician, where she thrived as the lead technician.
A vibrant soul with an unyielding love for the outdoors, Ruth was known for her love of animals, especially for horses, which she had and lived with for much of her life. She found joy in caring for her horses and always provided the utmost care for them. Ruth was also a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved the simple pleasures of the natural world. Feisty and unafraid, Ruth approached life with courage and determination, leaving a mark on all who knew her.
Her passions extended beyond her profession and her love for animals. Ruth found joy in indulging in Hershey chocolate, pursuing her hobbies of sewing and woodworking, and cherishing precious moments with her loved ones.
Ruth is survived by her beloved husband, Ken Oberdorf, her children Tammy Lembke (Tim), Nate Dommel (Tammy), and Sheri Albright (Eric), her stepchildren Paul Oberdorf and Andrew Oberdorf (Misty), eight cherished grandchildren, and her brothers Jay Hershey and Ray Hershey.
A celebration of Ruth’s remarkable life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Bachman Snyder Funeral Home, 7 South Decatur Street, Strasburg PA, with visitation beginning at 3:00 PM and services commencing at 4:00 PM.

I will forever be grateful for her friendship and the memories that we shared. She had a love for life, and her four-legged friends. She was a fighter, taking on whatever came her way, never giving up. I will miss her beautiful heart and smile, and her ability to laugh at herself. She will always be an inspiration to me. May her beautiful family know, you are in my thoughts and prayers and may God comfort you.

Ruth is my sisters mother in law. I did not see her very often. When I did she would have a big smile, embrace me with a hug and ask me how I was doing. She never forgot who I was and was always was welcoming. She made you feel like you were part of the family, this is a trait that her children also have. I am going to miss seeing her at family gatherings and miss her hugs and smiles. I will never forget Ruth and the love that she has showed me over the years. Jen Keller

Ruthie was an amazing person – I was so proud to share her love of animals. She was one who understood how deeply you can love man and God’s creatures. I will miss her very deeply.
