Roy D. Daughtrey, Sr., 82
June 21, 2023
Roy D. Daughtrey Sr., 82, of Willow Street passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023, after battling cancer. He was born in Missouri to the late Robert and Jewel Daughtrey in the fall of 1940.
A graduate of Lockwood High School, Roy enlisted into the United States Navy and served his country proudly aboard the USS Boston during the Vietnam conflict.
After returning from the Navy, Roy began a career as a welder with Goodhart Sons Inc. where he later worked as a crane operator, retiring after 25 years of service. His career in metal fabrication piqued his interest in blacksmithing so he would often make knives and other things as gifts for friends and family. He was also an avid hunter and shooter of primitive muzzleloading black powder guns. Roy also loved making crafts and things from wood and used his skills to help those around him projects and home repairs. He will be deeply missed.
Left to remember Roy is his beloved wife of 64 years, Charlotte Daughtrey; his sons Bob Daughtrey husband of Karen and Richard Daughtrey husband of Brenda; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Along with his parents Roy is preceded by his son Roy Daughtrey Jr.
A memorial service will be held June 30, 2023, at Charles Snyder III Funeral Home, Willow Street at 7PM. Guests are invited to a visitation two hours prior to service beginning at 5PM. Memorial donations may be made in Roy’s name may be made to Hospice and Community Care at hospiceandcommunitycare.org.
Roy’s family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to Lancaster General Hospital for the love and support they gave during this time.

I was blessed to have had Roy as my father-in-law for 20 years of my life. He was a wonderful grandpa to his grandkids and I’m so thankful that my daughter has the memories she has with her grandpa. Prayers and hugs to Charlotte, Bob, and Richard as you navigate through this difficult time. Cissy Daughtrey

Dear Charlotte,
Thank you for your call about your beloved husband Roy. He was a friend at church and was at the bench at Weis while you shopped. I sat with him every time I saw him there. He was a fine man, and I was pleased to talk with him.
As you know, my wife of 65 years had a terrible accident. She is recovering but can’t come to Roy’s service tonight. She is now 84 years old. I am closing in on 87.
We know that Roy will greet all of us in the Heavenly future.
May God bless you and your family with peace, joy and contentedness!
lin Christ’s Love,
Paul and Pat Drexel
