Ronald D Gieg, 68, of New Providence, passed away on Feb 2, 2017 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Lancaster, he was the husband of Miriam (Hershey) Gieg of New Providence, and was one of four sons of the late Harry and Dorothy (Rote) Gieg.

In addition to his wife of 43 years, he is survived by a son Zac, husband of Katie; daughter Ashley, wife of Burton Salthouse; and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Barry and John.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz with Henry Hershey officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

I am so sorry to just learn of Ron’s passing. He used to shop at my business in Willow Street. We became friends and often discussed his business ventures with his son Zac. He was always so kind and considerate. He was truly a good man! Peace and love to his wife and children!

The last time I saw Ron was in Danang, Vietnam. We met up briefly there. I had served 8 months duty in Camp Pendleton, California, with Ron, during our years in the Marine Corps. We had many good times and I always had a great respect for Ron. I searched him out today, only to discover his passing. Our lives crossed in those years, and I was the better for it. My sincere sympathies to his family.

Dear Mim and Family,
The last time I talked to Ron about a Health Insurance question he told me that he was diagnosed with cancer. Of course that did not stop him to be very helpful as he had always been over the years. He always went the extra mile and was always so kind. I also have fond memories going back to the Waldorf School. My favorite is Ron up on a ladder painting the vast entrance with a spraypainter and people telling him to get off the ladder because he had enhaled too much gas! Ron was a very spiritual person and it was a always a pleasure talking to him. I am so sorry for your loss.

Dear Mim and Zac,
Ron was an interesting man to know. We worked together on a few projects. He always had advice that couldn’t be ignored whether you intended to follow that advice or not. He was entirely sincere in my dealings with him. I considered him an honest and well-intentioned person on whom I could rely for counsel. Jerry Greiner

I still remember thoses early Waldorf School meetings, sometimes in Ron’s office in Lancaster. I will remember his gumption and wit. A very nice man.

I was so fortunate to have Ron a part of my family for the past 12 years as my daughter’s father in law. We spent holidays, birthdays, and many other events together with Ron and Mim. He was the storyteller, the one who lead the meal prayer, the turkey carver, the one who made us laugh, the cheerleader, and the one who was more open than any to show his love. Ron was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to all. I feel so sad that our grandchildren won’t have their fun, loving grandfather around anymore but I know their memories will be there forever and will live on. RIP, Ron. Thank you for all you gave us. We are so lucky you entered our lives. You will be dearly missed and always loved.

Dear Mim and Family—-very sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I feel fortunate to have known him both as a long-time acquaintance and also on a business footing. Absolutely no-one was more willing and capable to go the extra mile to sort out those pesky insurance problems than Ron, and I know that followed through to every facet of his life. He was a truly interesting man and will be missed by so many. Sending thoughts and continued prayers for you and your family. Fay Monte
