July 16, 2025
Robyn Earl Johns (Rob), of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, at the age of 77. Robyn was born on November 27, 1947 to Ernest R. Johns and Frances (Kaylor) Dutil in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. He married his beloved wife, M. Christine (Chris) Johns in 1970 and together they raised two sons, Matthew L. Johns (wife Noel) and Andrew K. Johns (wife Sud) in Huntingdon, PA.
Rob graduated from Hempfield Area High School in Greensburg, Pennsylvania in 1965 and then Juniata College in 1969. He continued his education at Penn State University earning both a Master’s and PhD in Psychology. During this period of time he also served his country in the US Army Reserves for six years. He had a long and successful career with the PA Department of Corrections as a psychologist working in several state correctional institutions. The majority of his career was spent at SCI Huntingdon and SCI Smithfield. After retiring from the DOC he worked as a therapist for Philhaven (Wellspan) in Lancaster, PA before full retirement. He will be remembered for his quick wit, dedication to his profession, countless hobbies and love for his family.
Rob’s interests and hobbies were vast. He loved hunting and fishing, especially for trout in Pennsylvania streams. He rarely missed an opportunity to take a family member or friend fishing. His other interests included gardening, grilling, reading, stamp collecting, and genealogy. He and Chris made many road trips exploring each of their family histories in great depth. Rob also had a passion for music. At various points in his life he played trombone, piano, guitar, and sang as part of choirs, bands, and as a soloist. Rob loved spending time with his family after retirement, especially his four grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife M. Christine; sons, Matthew Logan (wife Noel), Andrew Kaylor (wife Sud) grandchildren Tyson, Victoria, Anya and Brandon; sister Nancy DeMuth (husband Jim) and brother Mark Johns (wife Karen); nieces and nephews Erik, Heather, Katie, and Christopher; Aunt Nancy Bowers (husband Barry) and several cousins.
Rob will be missed tremendously by all, but there is comfort in knowing that he is at peace. A drop in and remembrance will be held at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home at 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 on Saturday, August 16 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.

Rob was a wonderful, caring, loving husband, father, and grandfather. I first met him at Juniata College, then he married my sister Chris, and became my brother-in-law in 1970. He was always there for my sister and her sons, and he loved being an involved grandfather to his 4 grandkids. Our grief in losing him is deeply felt. My sons remember their uncle and his activities with them when we visited Pennsylvania. Our family has lost a loving man and we will miss him very much.

I worked with Rob at SCI-Huntingdon. I am so sorry for your loss. We talked every day about various things. He always encouraged me to stop smoking and evidentually I did. I always had to remind him to return my pen when he asked to use it as he would start walking away with it. (I think at times he did it on purpose to get a rise out of me). One day when arriving at work he and another co-worker rode into the parking lot wearing funny glasses and a nose on their faces. It really made my day. Rob was truly a nice person. . Jeff Kidd
