My deepest sympathies on your loss.  I did not know him but he sounds like a wonderful young man.  I am from Harrisburg, live near Pittsburgh now, and was on the river with my family the day before Rob.  My thoughts and prayers have been with Rob and his family.  I hope you can find comfort in knowing he is with the Lord.  May the Lord bless you and keep you, may He make His face shine on you and give you peace.  -A.Kilgore

Dear Mr and Mrs Vega,
My husband and I want to send you our sincere sympathy due to the loss of your handsome son, Rob. We did not know him but read the other condolences and learn what a wonderful son you have. We too share the same grief. On Sept. 16, 2000, our 16 yr old daughter, Andrea, lost her life due to a rafting trip on the Yough River at Dimple Rock. It is such a tragedy.

So sorry for the loss of your “AMAZING” young man!  I, like Grant, didn’t know him very well, but I have heard how wonderful Rob has been for years.  This tragic loss has impacted many, many people and we all feel your loss.  He touched the lives of many during his short time on this earth.  I’m know you all were very proud of him!!  Our thoughts and prayers are with you all, the Vega’s, Anne Marie and family and his close friends.

Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of Rob.  My son, Lucas Hannegan, was in McCaskey with Rob and Anne Marie.  Lucas has great memories of Rob and always had nothing but great things to say about it.  We are so sorry.

To the Vega family and AnnMarie.  We don’t know one another but on the day of Rob’s accident, my grandchildren and their cousin were also rafting at Ohiopyle.  My grandson is also 22 and a student at WVU.  I just cannot tell you in words how I feel.  This was a tragedy that could have been prevented if they would just make some changes at Ohiopyle.  I know in life we should have no fear and should enjoy everything to its fullest and that is what Rob was doing.  I have read with awe all he accomplished in his young life. As a parent and grandparent my heart goes out to the family and AnnMarie.  I feel your loss tremendously.  Be proud.  You raised a great son.  Rob is such a handsome young man!  My husband is a Pitt graduate and I worked at Pitt Health Center years ago so we know how much Rob loved it there.  Hail to Pitt!  Please know your family are in our thoughts and prayers.  God’s blessings …

Mary  and Robert  .  I am so sorry for this tragic  happening ..If I had know the outcome of this  day  . we would have stopped completely.

I feel this loss as you do ..Linda  and  Anne Marie loved him dearly .
to me he was a son  , a part of the  family . I don’t know if I will ever see the bright and happiness that was in Anne Marie when she was with Rob . He was her Rock . I just feel so bad  ,, I am sorry

My daughter was a friend of Rob’s and even though I did not know him personally, my heart is broken for Rob’s family and Anne Marie and her family.  I have not stopped thinking of all of you and am preying for you all.  Lean on each other at this time.  Rob was a very specail young man and can never be replaced.  Just know that many, many people have you in their thoughts and hearts.

I was on the river that day and saw Rob’s accident. There were many people who tried to save him. He obviously was a special young man who touched many people. I am so, so sorry for your loss.
