July 30, 2025
Robert A. “Bob” DeHaven, 64, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at his
residence.
Born and raised in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Robert Henry “Bob” and Mary Catherine
“Kay” (McCartney) DeHaven. He was a loving husband and father to his wife, Madeline T.
“Lin” (Czajkowski) DeHaven and his son, John Robert DeHaven.
A 1978 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, Bob went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree
from Millersville University. He served honorably as an officer in the United States Navy for 4
years. Following his discharge from the service, Bob worked as a store manager for Rite-Aid
Corporation for many years. He eventually moved on to spend the remainder of his career as a
manager in the food service industry. Bob had a deep love of history and was an avid reader. He
enjoyed political discussions and had a special appreciation for trips to Washington, D.C.,
Gettysburg, PA and other historical sites. Bob especially enjoyed visiting history museums. In his
younger years some of his favorite activities were taking long walks and taking their family dog
to play at Lancaster County Park. He also cherished time spent with immediate and extended
family at the beach. He was an animal lover and Bob and his wife Lin took in a number of stray
cats and gave them a good home. Bob had a generous spirit and would do just about anything to
help those in need.
He is survived by his wife, Madeline “Lin” DeHaven; his son, John Robert DeHaven; his
siblings, Mary (Jeffrey) Watson, Joanne DeHaven, Fred (Lisa) DeHaven, and Carol (James)
Singleton; numerous nieces and nephews; and an honorary son, Elvis LaGuerre.
A graveside service will be held Monday, August 4, 2025, at 11am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Ranck Mill Rd. & Grofftown Rd., Lancaster, PA.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Bobby’s passing. I always remember fondly our Thanksgivings all spent together at Aunt Gloria’s house and the fun we had playing tag football outside on her huge backyard . Please know I’m thinking of you and your family and sending love and strength your way. Cousin Diane McCartney
