Rita N. Good, 87
May 04, 2024
Rita N. Good, 87, died peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Willow Valley Communities. She was the wife of Raymond E. Good, who died in 2019. They celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Born August 24, 1936, in Bird-in-Hand, Rita was the daughter of the late Rocco and Rosina DiCrocco. Rita grew up in Leola and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Lancaster.
For more than 30 years, Rita helped Raymond run his optometric practice, with offices in Lancaster and Strasburg. Rita and Raymond were a great team, and patients of the practice received quality eye care from Raymond and caring assistance from Rita, the office manager. Rita selected and ordered frames or contact lenses for patients. She specialized in contact lens training and had a particular soft spot for, as well as extreme patience with, teenagers learning to use contact lenses for the first time. Together, Rita and Raymond helped many local residents improve their vision.
After they retired the business, Rita became a bailiff with the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas and was assigned to now-retired Judge Leslie Gorbey. Rita thoroughly enjoyed her time as a bailiff and often talked fondly of the friends she made while working at the courthouse.
Rita is survived by her loving daughter, Susan E. Good, Mechanicsburg; daughter-in-law Mila J. Good, Lompoc, CA; her granddaughter, Nicole L. Good (Brooke Hess), Boiling Springs; grandsons Miles R. Good (Megan Good) and Morgan J. Good (Molly Good), Lompoc, CA; five great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. Rita is also survived by her sisters, Charlotte Compton, Columbia; Susan Trout (Donald Trout), New Holland; Anne Dougherty (James Dougherty), Lancaster; and her brother, Raymond DiCrocco (Lancaster). She was preceded in death by her sons, Michael R. Good and Jeffery M. Good; her brother and sister-in-law, Gerard and Geraldine DiCrocco; her brother-in-law, Benjamin Compton; and her sister-in-law, Diane DiCrocco.
A viewing will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 10 to 11 a.m., directly followed by the Mass of the Christian Burial with Rev. Matthew Morelli as Celebrant at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Lancaster.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a contribution in Rita’s memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or at https://www.cancer.org/donate.html.
