Dear Joan, Rick and Mary Kay, I was so sad to hear about the passing of Dick. I can remember the day my siblings and I met Dick at 1012. I didn’t know it then, but eventually I realized my dad met his match when it came to the ‘comedy acts’. You were longtime and very special friends of my parents. Many, many memories were made as our families often got together. My siblings and I attended Dick’s funeral in ‘real time’ via St. Leo’s live stream. I was thankful for that opportunity; Dick’s funeral Mass was lovely. I am sure Clem and Mary Jane are already catching up with Dick in heaven and I am certain my dad and Dick are already exchaging jokes.
Bridget, Owen and Audrey, I know how special your grandfather was in your lives. It was quite evident in your beautiful eulogies. You made it very clear through your sincere thoughts what an impact he had on you. It was wonderful to hear that your ‘Grandpa Dick’ left you with many important life lessons.
Blessings to you all, Lee and Mollie (Lichty) Fahnestock

My deepest sympathy to Joan, Rick and the family. Dick was a very special man and mentor. He took me under his wings when I started at Town & Country. He was a wonderful person, great individual telling jokes and an all around person to look up to. I will miss him dearly.

My memories of Dick where as a neighbor and friend as he was treasurer of the Wheatland Hills Glenbrook Community Organization. He was always welcoming and liked to tell good stories. He also was very helpful in running WHGCO and keeping our accounts up to date.
At Halloween, generous and joyful as usual, he would give out hotdogs to anyone who came by.
My sincere condolences to Joan and the family on the loss of such a good man.Tom Hoober

When my husband and I moved into the Wheatland Hills neighborhood 33 years ago, Dick was already an institution. He ably served on the board of the community organization for many years and remained very interested in the neighborhood even after he ‘retired’ from this role. Dick was a charming and outgoing man who will be greatly missed by me and his other neighbors. With heartfelt condolences to his entire family, Stefanie Valar

Dick was a very special friend to me. We shared a lot of good times together and our time spent with each other and the rest of the gang at Town and Country will be remembered and cherished.
I will miss your sense of humor, your Christian values, but most of all, I will miss you Dick.
Donna and I will keep Joan, Rick, and Mary Kay in our prayers.

I only met Dick once, when we were recovering in the same hospital room. But I feel great sorrow for you, Joan, who I remember as working to be an exceptional French teacher back in my high school days.

We were Dick’s next door neighbors for the past sixteen years. Often when we would arrive home he would knock on the window before sticking his head out to share a greeting and provide an update about who stopped by, stories of the neighborhood, or about the packages being left at our door.
A large portion of our family still lives in the area where Dick grew up. We will miss his stories of life in Carbondale and the sharing of memories of our time, although years apart, spent in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Our family will fondly remember Dick as one of our original neighbors.
Our deepest sympathy is extended to Dick’s family and friends for whom, through our conversations, he expressed deep care and love.
May God’s peace and comfort be upon you all. Now and forevermore.
