Richard H. "Dick" Weber, M.D., 82, of Lancaster, died Monday, April 29, 2013.

Born on June 14, 1930 on “Flag Day”, he was raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania.  The son of the late Richard and Amelia Kulowitsch Weber, he graduated from Allentown High School.  He graduated from Columbia College at Columbia University graduating with his Bachelor of Science degree.  In 1956 he earned a Doctorate in Medicine from Hahnemann Medical College, Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA.  Dr. Weber then completed an internship at the Misericordia Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.   Inducted into military service from 1957-1959, he served as a Captain and as Chief of the General Practice Clinic and Emergency Medicine at Andrews Air Force Base Hospital, Washington, D.C.

In 1959, Dr. Weber accepted a Residency in Family Practice at the Lancaster General Hospital (“LGH”), opening his family practice office in 1960 in Lancaster.  For over 50 years, Dr. Weber was a devoted general practitioner caring for his many patients, both young and old.  In 1970, he became a Charter Member of the first class of Diplomats of the American Board of Family Practice.  Dr. Weber also loved teaching and endeavored to impart his vast knowledge to students at his private office and in the hospital.  He was Clinical Instructor & Preceptor at LGH, at Hershey Medical Center and at Temple University.

Dr. Weber loved music and art priding himself in his collection of trumpets and paintings.  In 1985, he took great pleasure in helping to form the Auscultation Brass Band with fellow physicians and delighted in performing for annual community events and granting music scholarships.  His ever-present work ethic and good humor constantly motivated and brought joy to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.

My condolences to Dr. Weber’s family.  He was my doctor for many years before I moved to Florida.  He always had a smile and a word of wisdom for everyone he saw.  He will be missed!!!  Yvonne Summar Donley

Dr. Weber was my doctor since the mid sixties until the end of his career. The
delivery of our daughter was one of his last babies he delivered. I have the
upmost admiration, love, and feel fortunate to have such a wonderful doctor.
He was missed then and will be missed now. I would see Dr. Weber at different
church events, he always had a large smile and called me by my first name.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to John, Heidi, Amy, Gretchen, Mrs. Weber and all of the grandchildren and extended family on the passing of your father, husband and grandfather this week.  I fondly remember his wit and humor during those years I had the pleasure of being in his company.  I share in your grief and pray for comfort for each of you.
Love, Cindy Xakellis Wiederholt

My son and I were so upset to hear of Dr. Weber’s passing.  He was a wonderful man and an outstanding physician.  We were patients of his for many, many years until his retirement.  We have yet to find a physician equal to him.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and a genuine caring nature. While we feel a sense of loss and sadness heaven is smiling.

Dear Mrs. Weber, Amy, Gretchen, Heidi, John, Alexa and William —

I just heard from Amy of her father’s sudden passing and just want you all to know that I am sending my thoughts, prayers and love your way.  Your husband/father/grandfather was such a wonderful, warm, joyful person; and I know your family will miss him terribly.  That said, he and you also had a wonderful life and family together; so I hope that helps sustain you.

All my love,
Susie (Montgomery)

Dear Mrs. Weber,

Ms. Vivian Garrett a friend from Willow Valley called the Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory today to extend her Deepest Sympathy to you and your family.  She said she is 93 years old and has no computer, and asked that we convey her condolences for her.

Vivian Garrett

Dear Mrs. Weber, Amy, Heidi, John, Gretchen, William & Alexa,

Sending you all my thoughts and prayers.  Papa Weber was a loving man.  When I was little, and he celebrated Christmas with us in New York, he used to give me Hershey Kisses from his pocket. I hope every time you look at William you will be reminded of Dr. Weber, as he surely does have the same twinkle in his eye that Papa Weber had.

Much Love,
Lee Taylor

John, Amy, & Family,

You are in my thoughts and prayers. May the peace of The Lord be with you all.

Rev. Mark Kopp

Dear blessed family of Dr. Weber,
Like many other I was a patient since 1960 until his retirement.  He delivered both my children and was instrumental in saving my oldest at the age of 2 weeks. And after that he made numerous house calls whenever that child had problems. Then he saved my life with an instant diagnosis in the 80’s.  He did all this with the utmost care and patience.  I will never forget him and I grieve with you in his passing.

Kathy Wiker

Condolences from your family in Austria. We are saddened by the news of Richard’s passing, and regret that we never had the chance to meet him in person. We are grateful, however, that Richard had sent us Gretchen and Amy for a few days, as this allowed us to stay connected with our relatives in the U.S.

Cousins Irma and Richard, and their families

We are sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Weber. He was a fine doctor who took pride in being a doctor. We also enjoyed his music. He will be missed. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fralich and Robert and Mary (Deceased) Fralich

Thought and prayers to Dr. Weber’s family. He was my family doctor from birth through to my teens when he retired. He was a great man and my day always seemed to get a little bit brighter whenever I saw him. -Christopher Shaffer

Shirley– Tess and I have many fond memories of you and Dick ("dull autumn evening" etc).  He was an excellent mentor , role model, physician and friend. The eveready bunny had nothing on this former FIJI –His enthusiasm and joie de vivre was infectious- whether it involved patients, hospital politics, music , children and grandchildren(especially at his 80th birthday party) He will remain in our hearts and minds until we meet our maker. Our sympathies go to you and your wonderful family.     Bill and Tessie Hunt

Condolences to the Weber family from Dr. John and Karen Palumbo

Its hard to say what was the best thing about knowing and working with Dick for the past thirty five plus years -his infectious laugh, his jokes, his stories, his trumpet playing, his concern for patients. Whether it was lunch in the doctors’ lunch room, the radiology viewing area, or the indoor track at the old "Y" -it was always a treat to be around him. We were all better for having him as a colleague and friend.

Larry Carroll

John, my deepest sympathies go out to you and your family in this time of sadness. Lean on me, brother.
With much love to all,
Brad Hudson

My sincere sympathies to the family of Dr. Weber. He was our family physician from 1960 until he retired from his practice. He was a special person who always made time for his patients. I still miss him as my physician and now the community of his family, friends and patients will miss his presence on earth.

Yvonne Mitchell

Our prayers and thoughts are with you in the passing of a "wonderful man", not only to his family but to those of us he cared for during his career as an extraordinary doctor. We will always remember the small sign hanging in his office, GOD DOES THE HEALING AND I COLLECT THE MONEY. Although he has passed his memories will always be with you.

Peace,
    Dick & Marge Trout

We send our deepest sympathies to Amy and her family on this sad occasion.  Robin and Tom Emmons

I was so sad to hear of Dr Webers passing. I was a patient of his from the time i was 11 years old until his retirement. He was very important to me . He was only an intern when i met him at LGH,he didn’t give up on me he saved my life. Then in 1980 he came to my rescue again. He was a wonderful Dr i will never foreget him. I’am so sorry for your lost. Marjorie Hossler Sload

To the Weber Family,
Dr. Weber was my doctor from birth till he retired. He delivered me at LGH, and was our family doctor as well. Many people often say they "hate"going to the Doctor, with your husband and father this was far from the case, I actually "liked" my visits because he always taught me something and had a wonderful way of answering my questions(which were frequent) with a wry sense of humor.. I always enjoyed seeing him and will miss him. He was a great man and I was lucky to have had him as my doctor. I wish you all peace and blessings. I’m sorry for your loss.
