Richard H. Pottberg, 91

Richard H. Pottberg, 91, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at his residence.
He was the husband of the late Gloria Cerami Pottberg, who passed away in 2011. Born in The Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Harry and Emma Mueller Pottberg.
Richard had lived in Missouri and Arizona, working for the City of Scottsdale.
A US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he enlisted soon after serving with the Civilian Conservation Corps. Attaining the rank of Sgt., Richard served in the 9th Army Air Corps attached to Patton’s 3rd Army Division in Europe as a P-47 Thunderbolt mechanic. He was the recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 6 bronze star devices, and also was awarded the French Legion Of Honor by the government of France.
He is survived by his sons: Glenn married to Elaine Pottberg of Lancaster, Jeffrey married to Anita Pottberg of Mamaroneck NY, Richard married to Colleen Pottberg of Kent NY, and Robert married to Erin Pottberg of Ozark MO. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Nicole, Danielle, Kristen, Alexa, Matthew, James, and Emma.
Services with full military honors will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.

Condolences to the Pottberg family. I’m sorry to read about the passing of Richard. It was a pleasure taking care of his lawn and outside work the past 2 years. I knew when I met him he was a man with integrity and his obituary bore that out. Peace be with you. Steve Witmer/2 Men Mowing
