Richard E. “Rich” Young, Jr., 81

May 12, 2025

Richard E. “Rich” Young, Jr., 81, of New Providence, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, at his residence surrounded by daughters.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Richard E. and Evelyn R. (Smith) Young, Sr. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy (Chant) Young.

Rich had a deep love for nature and spent countless hours outside gardening, fishing, and watching birds—especially his cherished homing pigeons. He was a true animal lover. His hands were rarely still, always busy with woodworking projects or maintaining his Harley Davidson, which he loved to ride. Rich was also a long-time and proud member of the Riverside Camping Association. The beach held a special place in his heart, and he treasured time spent at Wildwood, NJ and Myrtle Beach, where he and his wife enjoyed their condo. Above all, Rich loved his family. He valued every moment spent with them and filled their lives with warmth, laughter, and unwavering love.

He is survived by his daughters, Robin Roth and Wendy (Stan) Roeser; his sisters, Darlene Ruhl, Teresa (Jeff) Rietschey, and Lori Cruz; his grandchildren, Rich Rankin, Roger Hartstein, Brittany Broomell, Melissa Roeser, Kevin Roeser, and Tony Roeser; and his great-grandchildren, Cole Rankin, Brendan Shireman, Brooke Rankin, Lesle Norton, Kaelyn Coble, Maya Roeser, and Calvin Roeser.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and his brothers, Denny, Danny, and Harold Young.

Interment is being held privately at the convenience of the family.

Wen, remembering the fun times, like the trip to Philadelphia & taking the pick of your dad in the cheese shop with the long hanging cheeses as Dottie shopped.  Your dad had a great laugh. I know how you will miss him. With deepest sympathy. Love, Lor

I am missing you so much already, Daddy. You are no longer suffering with grief from missing the love of your life, my Mom. You and Mom are happily reunited in heaven and I know it was an amazing welcome home from her. I will miss all of our lunch dates and just running errands together or our short day trips. I’m so proud to be your daughter and I will keep every promise I made to you. I love you Dad 🩵 until we meet again, be my bright shining star and watch over me and Wendy…..we are going to need you to keep us safe. You are our Super (man) Angel 🩵🩵🩵🩵
