Rhoda Florence McDivitt, 79

June 16, 1943 - July 26, 2022

Rhoda Florence McDivitt, 79, of Lancaster, passed away at Hospice & Community Care on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, following a diagnosis of Leukemia in October 2020, and a well fought battle against the disease. She was the daughter of the Roy K. and Dorothy R. (Garber) Mosemann.

Rhoda was preceded in death by her husband, David T. McDivitt in 2003, and her life companion, Gary Stark in 2015. She never lived alone until after Gary’s death, and Rhoda overcame the situation and blossomed in her own life.

A dedicated homemaker for her family, Rhoda enjoyed working as a caregiver for Home Instead Senior Care in her later years. She was a member of faith United Church of Christ.

Rhoda loved to complete puzzles and play Scrabble. She dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rhoda never missed a phone call to sing Happy Birthday on their special day.

Rhoda is survived by her daughters, Kathy S. Hengey, with whom she lived, and Michelle R. McDivitt-Stripe, wife of Justin R. Stripe of North West, PA; her son, Elvin T. McDivitt, husband of Suset of Denver, PA; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A future celebration of Rhoda’s life at Faith United Church of Christ, 1204 Wabank Road, Lancaster, PA 17603 will be announced. Interment will be private.
