Peter Michael Zwolenik, 86

January 21, 2021

Peter Michael Zwolenik, 86, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born February 19, 1934 in Summit Hill, PA he was the son of the late Peter and Rose (Kostecky) Zwolenik. He was the devoted husband of Sophie (Ogozalek) Zwolenik with whom he celebrated 60 years of loving marriage on May 7, 2020.

Following high school, Peter entered into the US Air Force and was discharged as a staff sergeant in 1960.

After his discharge from the Air Force, Peter went on to study at Penn State University, Hazleton, where he graduated with an Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Peter enjoyed a long career with Armstrong World Industries as a Design Engineer before retiring in May of 1998.

Peter enjoyed playing golf with his Armstrong buddies after work as well as his son and neighbors, was a big Phillies & Eagles fan, and enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family. Peter’s infectious smile will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

I’m sorry for your loss.  I only saw Peter’s family a few times when I would be in visiting my husband. I do remember Peter walking the hallway. May God grant you peace as you travel this journey. No doubt the two of them are now able to sit and carry on a conversation. Jeanne Pruitt

My deepest sympathy to peters wife Sophie and family. I was glad I had the privilege of caring for Peter in Quarryville. As one of his nurses, I enjoyed conversing with Peter. He had an infectious smile. He would call me “Sarge”. He will be greatly missed. I could tell he was a great family man. May you find comfort in knowing he is free of pain and he is now home in heaven. So sorry that covid robbed you of the past year to share your love. I will miss seeing the family. Cheryl, you have your dads laugh/smile. 🙏😊
