Pauline S. Smith, 88

Pauline S. Smith, 88, of Lancaster, died peacefully on December 26, 2025. She was the wife of the late Charles R. Smith who died April 8, 2010. They were married for over 51 years.

Pauline was born and raised in Lancaster. She was the daughter of the late Robert Steller and Margaret Evans Steller. Her brother was the late Harold Steller (Joan).

Pauline graduated from Manheim Township High School in 1955. She then went on to become a nurse and graduated from Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. Pauline worked for LGH for many years. She eventually went on to work for the late Joseph B. Hess M.D. She retired from nursing in 1999.

Pauline joined Calvary Church when she was a teen and continued attending from then on. She was involved with the JOY ABF and helped with the Wednesday night meals. She enjoyed cross stitching and traveling. Some of her favorite trips were to her home in Bethany Beach, DE.

Surviving Pauline is her daughter Jennifer L. Smith of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Smith and son James W. Smith.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 11am on January 12 at Calvary Church with Pastor Stan Maughan officiating, and Lancaster County Nurse Honor Guard will provide a Nightingale tribute service. Private interment will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.

I was lucky enough to live across from Polly’s beach house for the past 16 years.  I always enjoyed stopping by for chats and Luna loved her porch visits for pets.  Rest in Peace
