Paul W. Palmer

Born to an Insurance Salesman and Minister’s Daughter in Oil City, PA to Harold & Martha (Ebert) Palmer as the 2nd of 4 sons, Paul acquired a strong work ethic & deeply rooted faith in God.

He balanced three interests: Family, Faith & Career. When Paul was 22 he married the love of his life, Ann Halfaker, on July 27, 1968. In a short time, they became a family, raising 2 children. Paul ensured that Ann was able to be the full-time mother she wished to be and his children would have opportunities to pursue their interests.  His relationship with his wife went beyond their home; they were partners in Faith and in his Career.  As a Father, he taught his kids to look into history to understand the future, maintain integrity & share their talents.

A lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, Paul is remembered by friends as a role-model for living his faith. He taught Bible Study & was the Church Treasurer among many other roles. Even in his career, he upheld his Christian ethics.

Paul attended Ft. Lauderdale University in Florida, earning a business degree in 3 years while working full-time. His career advanced from Internal Auditor to Controller to CFO.  These promotions took him & his family around the country from Illinois to Alabama, Kansas to Washington. In the early ’90’s Paul enrolled at Seattle Pacific University to pursue an MBA. After graduate school, he began an aggressive career as a CFO guiding businesses in transition. This 2nd half of his career slowly brought him back across the country with work in Oklahoma, Kentucky & Indiana, winding up in his birth state of Pennsylvania. Throughout his career, Paul found pleasure mentoring promising junior colleagues, many of whom have expressed gratitude for his tutelage.

Paul will be missed by friends & family around the U.S.  He’ll be remembered for his loyalty, drive, determination, humor, faith, & stewardship as well as his love for croquet matches with his brothers, a good ping pong game & evening walks with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents.  Survivors include his wife Ann, son Luke (Bridget) of Keller, TX & children Annelise, Michael & Matthew; daughter Erica Gerald (Pepi) of Hood River, OR & daughter Miyuki as well as his brothers Richard (Charlotte) of Framingham, MA, David (Amy) of Bloomfield Hills, MI, & Philip (Yvonne) of Coos Bay, OR, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.

His Memorial Service will be held at Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing, PA, on March 11 at 1pm.  Reception will follow.  In lieu of flowers tributes can be made in his memory to The Mennonite Home, 1529 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601 or the Association for Frontotemporal Lobe Dementia, AFTD, 100 N.
