Paul George Meck, 14
Born November 15, 1929 and died July 6, 2007 from a brief illness. Paul was born in Lancaster, Pa. and attended catholic high school. He volunteered for military service in which he spent 3 years in the Army Air Force. Upon his return to Lancaster he joined the local National Guard. He was a member of the 28th infantry division that was put on occupational duty in Germany during the Korean War.
Upon his return from Germany he joined the Lancaster Police Dept. as an officer. This is where he met his wife of 44 years, Patricia Ann Barbour of Georgetown, Pa. They married in 1955 and had 4 children. Paul was preceded in death by his wife Pat (Feb. 1999), and his grandson Tony (Dec. 1999). Paul continued his career in Law Enforcement as a dispatcher with the Lancaster Police Dept. and East Hempfield Police Dept. until his retirement in 2002 at which time he moved to Felton, Pa. where he enjoyed his retirement with his son, Tony and his daughter-in-law Kathy.
He enjoyed taking care of his garden, fishing, reading, spending time mowing, and spending time outside enjoying the peace and quiet of the outdoors. He fed and cared for much of the wildlife around his house, particularly some feral cats which adopted him as much as he did them. Paul also enjoyed sharing stories with his children and grandchildren, and through his stories passed on the history and feelings of what he experienced during his time with his family and friends.
His family held a private service and memorial for Paul and his wife Pat at his house in Felton. Paul was survived by his 4 children: Pamela A. Meyers (Lancaster, Pa.), Paul A. Meck (Felton, Pa.), Earl V. Meck (Smithville, Tx.), and Betty Jo Foultz (Red Lion, Pa.), 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grand children. His son Paul A. (Tony) Meck can be contacted for any further information.
