Patricia L. Pelliccione, 48

Patricia L. Pelliccione, 48, of 128 Chapel Lane, Ephrata died Thursday, August 13, 2009 from injuries suffered in a vehicle accident in Gettysburg, PA. She was the wife of David Pelliccione (married 9/29/84) and mother of three children: Anthony(19), Valerie (16), and Angela (13).

Patty devoted herself to the educational, spiritual and emotional development of her children. Her constant care and support for them enriched her life as they brought her joy and delight. In addition, she was an active volunteer in the Conestoga Valley School Community where she served as a member of VIA (Volunteers in Action), a school library volunteer and member of Mom’s in Touch. Patty was most recently employed as a Title 1 Aide in the Conestoga Valley School District.

Patty graduated from Kittanning Senior High School (1979) and Penn State University (1983) with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. A Registered Professional Engineer, Patty worked initially as a structural engineer designing bridges in the Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware area. Later, in Atlanta, GA, she was part of the engineering team that constructed the mass transit system in Atlanta called MARTA and subsequently a Transportation Engineer in Portland, OR. In 1997, she relocated with her family to Lancaster following her husband’s transfer with Armstrong World Industries.

The family members attend St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

Patty was a dedicated runner and played high school and college basketball and softball. She was an avid Penn State fan and enjoyed supporting her alma mater.

Patty is the daughter of Frances Bowley, of Kittanning, PA and the late Ernest Bowley (deceased 2008). She is also survived by her brother, Scott Bowley of Woodbury, MN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center located at 625 Community Way, Lancaster, Pa 17603.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Road, Lancaster, Pa on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 11:00AM with Msgr. Richard Youtz as celebrant. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Monday, August 17, 2009 from 2-4 PM and 7-9PM. Dave,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your wife, and you have my utmost sympathy. Since hearing the news on Friday morning, I have been upset and it has been on my mind quite abit. I know how you are feeling, since I went through the sudden loss of my first wife in 1984. All I can say is, is that it does hurt and you can be feeling very alone right now, that you have even lost a part of yourself. But keep your faith, Your faith in God and your love of your children will pull you through. Dave, If you ever need someone to talk to (and listen) please call. I ask that God look over, bless, and comfort you and your family.
With all my sympathy,

Dear Valerie, Anthony and Family,
My most heartfelt condolences go out to all of you. I will always remember fondly Mrs. Pelliccione’s dedication to the school district and to her children. She was enthusiastic in everything she did and very supportive of her children and others. She never failed to attend the plays and musicals that I performed in and always had something sweet to say afterwards. She will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I wish you strength and comfort through this difficult time.
Love,

Dear Uncle Dave,
I am so sorry we could not be there for the funeral, please know we are with you in heart and spirit. There are not enough words to say what I feel. It is like the heart ache of mom all over again. I know there will be many difficult days for you and the kids ahead. Please know whatever we can do to help. Listen, talk, pray we will be there. I know how the kids are feeling and please tell them the pain does get better with time. If they would like to talk to someone let them know we are here. Patty was one of the most beautiful people I have ever met, and had the privilege of being her niece. I will hold many wonderful memories with her in my heart. Take care and we will talk soon. All of my love.
Always, Beth and Steve McKillop

My husband and I have a home in Gettysburg. The evening of the accident we were just 2 blocks away, on Baltimore St. We heard the sirens and when we came out to move our car, the police told us there had been a terrible accident. Now we know the circumstances and we want your entire family to know how much our hearts and prayers go out to you. I lost my first husband, 44 years old, after 6 long years of battling brain cancer. We too had 3 kids. It was a hard loss. But I think your loss is ever so much more painful -being so sudden. In my reading, what helps me the most is knowing that ultimately we will all be together, united though Christ, our Lord and Savior. We’ll be praying for you as you come to terms with this life changing loss.

Dear Dave and Angie, Anthony, and Valerie,
We were in shock and very saddened to learn about Patty’s death. We have only known your family in the last couple years, but what we knew about Patty, was that she was a very caring and lovely person. We know how much it hurts to lose someone so special to you. With God’s help and time (lots of time) the pain will ease (not go away – but ease). If we can help in anyway, let us know.

Dave,
I had the honor of knowing Patti through leading Moms in Touch for two years. She was one of the most selfless people I have ever known. She was always praying for the outcasts,  the kids who feel left out, and praying for the teachers to find creative ways of reaching challenging children. She was always thinking of ways to bless others. I’m sure she has inspired many through her quiet, gentle, and loving way. Brownstown will miss her greatly.
Lori Suiter

Dear Angela
I was very saddened to read about the passing of your mother in the paper.  Hugs to you.  I remember her from Brownstown elementary, and was glad to have the honor of at least meeting her there.  She was helpful to my student, (as you also always have been) and for that she will be remembered fondly in my heart.  Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.  I am the person who worked with "Amber"…the girl that you always had something nice to say to her when passing.
Please take care…Mrs. Weber
