August 24, 2025
Patricia Joanne (Lynch) Maurer, 80, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown.
Born in Harrisburg on June 1, 1945, Tricia was the daughter of John H. and Evelyn L. Lynch and grew up in Palmdale and Hershey, PA. With her first husband, William Kovatch, she had 4 children: Patricia Kovatch; Susan Kovatch Evans (Jason); Kathleen Kovatch (Luis); and William J Kovatch. She is survived by her four children; her husband Roger G Maurer, Masonic Village, Elizabethtown; a granddaughter Ana Sophia Leon Kovatch; a brother John Lynch, Palmyra; and four stepchildren.
Tricia graduated from Penn State in 1968 with a BS in Food Service and Housing Administration and received an MS in Education from Temple in 1987. As a Registered Dietician, she worked at Allentown Hospital, Phoebe Home and at Masonic Village. She was also an adjunct professor of nutrition at St Luke’s School of Nursing, Penn State University, and Cedar Crest College, where she set up the accredited curriculum for the Allen Center for Nutrition.
Tricia had a passion for music since childhood. While living in the Lehigh Valley she played in the Allentown Symphony & Pops Orchestras, the Allentown Band, and the Allentown Marine Band, and also performed in summer musicals at Muhlenberg College. When she came to Lancaster County, she brought her flute along and played in the New Holland Band, the Bainbridge Band, the Keystone Concert Band, the Lebanon Community Band, the Washington Band of Annville, and Malta Band. From 2005 to 2020, she and Roger were “snowbirds”, spending winters in Ft Myers and playing with the Lee County Community Band and the Southwest Florida Concert Band.
In addition to her professional and musical pursuits, Tricia was a member of the Hershey Figure Skating Club, a talented sewer, quilter and knitter, and she devoted countless hours to cooking and baking for her family and loved ones.
Tricia will be remembered for her outgoing friendly manner and her kind, caring, and thoughtful spirit that touched so many people’s lives. She will be sadly missed by her husband Roger and by her family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be at 2PM on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Sell Chapel, 200 Freemason Drive in the Masonic Village of Elizabethtown campus. Family and friends will be received from 130PM until the time of service.
