Patricia Anne McClure, 61

Patricia Anne McClure, 61, of 1729 Pioneer Road, Lancaster, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 9, 2006, under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County.  Pat was the beloved wife of Charles W. McClure, to whom she was married for 40 years.

Pat was born in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, on December 25, 1944, the daughter of the late Louis and Anne (Kolesar) Haas.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons:  Charles P. McClure, M.D., married to Luci (Jankowski) McClure, Esq., of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania; Peter L. McClure of Collierville, Tennessee; and William A. McClure of Baltimore, Maryland; and two grandsons, C.J. and Thomas McClure.  She is also survived by her brother, Louis Haas of Baltimore Maryland.  Pat was preceded in death by her sister, Louise (Haas) Betzko of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.

Pat graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Lancaster in 1965.  She worked as a Registered Nurse for twenty-five years at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lancaster.  The majority of Pat’s career was as a labor and delivery and NICU certified nurse.  She was a caring and compassionate person who headed up the bereavement group for parents of stillborn and young children at St. Joseph’s and she taught grandparenting classes there also.  Her later career at St. Joseph’s was served in the Day Hospital.

Pat had a great love of nature and was an avid gardener.  She was a graduate of the Penn State University Master Gardener’s Program and was a Horticultural Art Student at Longwood Gardens.  Pat enjoyed painting, needlepoint, quilting and cooking, for which she won numerous ribbons at the Lampeter Fair through the years; she also served on the Fair Committee and volunteered at Strasburg Public Library.  Pat enjoyed the great outdoors through hiking, canoeing, camping and fishing, even catching a prize trout.  She also enjoyed traveling with the National Historic Railroad Association and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Lancaster.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E.
