Patricia A. (Osweiler) Benjamin, 91

March 06, 2025

Patricia A. (Osweiler) Benjamin, 91, of Millersville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Homestead Village. Born in Bonaparte, IA, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Ludgardis (Striegel) Osweiler.

Patricia was a graduate of Bonaparte High School, where she was active in choral groups, tap dancing, and served as the editor of both the school newspaper and yearbook. Though she left Iowa to pursue new opportunities, she remained deeply connected to her roots, cherishing lifelong friendships and family ties. She graduated from Gem City Business College in Quincy, IL, and worked as a secretary.

A woman of deep faith, Patricia was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington, IA. After marrying John Benjamin, they built a life together over 34 years, raising six children. In 1963, their family moved to Lancaster, PA, where they became founding members of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church.

In 1995, Patricia married Paul McMican, with whom she shared 30 wonderful years.

Patricia lived life with enthusiasm and warmth. She enjoyed playing tennis, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, and was an avid bridge player. She had a passion for cooking, often preparing meals for large family gatherings and entertaining friends. Her beautiful gardens were a source of pride and recognition, even earning her a place on local garden tours.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her children Teresa Benjamin of Pittsburgh, Herbert Benjamin of Willow Street, Rita Beck (David Dreyer) of York, Kathleen Langsett of Fort Lauderdale, and John Benjamin of Lititz; son-in-law Bill Francos of Sinking Springs; and her stepchildren Tracy Loftsgard (Mike) of Nebraska, and Mike McMican (Julie) of Oklahoma. She was adored by her 18 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Andrea Francos (Bill), her husbands John Benjamin and Paul McMican, as well as her eight siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601. Family and friends will be received from 10AM until the time of service. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA.
